The Mammoet Transport BV Company (the Netherlands) was founded in 1971.

        Its interests include petrochemical industry, power industry, coal industry and waterworks. In 1973 it joined a scientific expedition whose job it was to lift the remains of a mammoth from seabed. Actually, the Dutch word “mammoet” means “mammoth,” which is reflected in the firm’s logo.

        Over 30 years of operations the company has opened subsidiaries in 23 countries in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa. In Russia the company is represented by a firm called Mammoet Transport Moscow.

        On July 7, 2000, Mammoet Transport BV joined the Van Seumeren Holland BV holding, leader of the European market of heavy-duty handling operations.

        Before the merger Van Seumeren was Europe’s leader among crane owners (in terms of overall lifting capacity), with Mammoet occupying second place.

        At present the holding is the world’s leader among leasing crane companies, with its cranes having a lifting capacity of a total of 160,000 tons. The holding earns close to $282 million a year. Its headquarters is in the town of De-Meern (the Netherlands).

        The company plans to move the passenger terminal of Copenhagen Airport (110x34m) to a distance of 2.4 kilometers, take part in the construction of a stadium in Amsterdam and a three-kilometer-long bridge in Lisbon.

        Several years ago Van Seumeren assembled the roof of the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow jointly with the Russian Stalkonstruktsiya firm.

        The company owns the world’s largest crane with a lifting capacity of 4,400 tons.
