Names and ranks of senior Northern Fleet officers discharged and disciplined were released by the Russian defence ministry’s press service, according to RIA Novosti news agency.

        They were reported to be:

        Commander of the Northern Fleet’s submarine flotilla Vice-Admiral Oleg Burtsev; flotilla chief of staff Rear-Admiral Valery Filatov; divisional commander Rear-Admiral Mikhail Kuznetsov; deputy divisional commander Captain (1st class) Viktor Kobelev; department heads in the chief naval command Vice-Admiral Nikolai Mikheyev, Rear-Admiral Gennady Verich and Rear-Admiral Valery Panferov; Northern Fleet departmental commanders Vice-Admiral Yury Boyarkin, Rear-Admiral Vladimir Khandobin, Captain (1st class) Alexander Teslenko, flotilla deputy commander Rear-Admiral Farit Zinnatullin and Northern Fleet unit commander Captain (1st class) Ruben Karakhanov.
